Do you have a special carrying mug that is not allowed to have coffee in it? Do you know the secret of steeping and luxury of loose-leaf? Do you know that Green, Black, and White are more than just colors and that the words Rooibo and Oolong have more in common than an excess of vowels? Can you argue the merits of hot/cold/sweetened/unsweetened/black/white/and vanilla Chai?
So, you're a tea drinker.
Maybe you picked up tea because you can't stomach coffee or maybe you just like to switch it up. Maybe you're an Anglophile or a bookworm. Either way, tea is a wonderful part of the universe and at Sacred Grounds we're pretty passionate about our tea.
You see, our tea comes from the Great Lakes Tea and Spice Co. They're a local company from Glen Arbor, MIchigan who were inspired by the ancient oriental tea and spice routes. Thus, their mission is to incorporate unusual teas and spices into local palates. Great Lakes Tea and Spice Co. reminds us that Michigan indeed is "famous for its seafaring past and European trading history," an exciting fact which is easy to forget.
Great Lakes Tea and Spice Co. offers many unique combinations of spices and herbs to make truly memorable teas: Garden Island Green, Earl Grey Lavender, and-- our best seller-- Roasted Almond Delight, just to name a few. Most of their teas are certified organic and single estate teas, meaning the tea leaf was grown all together in one place, not mixed from different tea sources,
Having a single estate tea is similar to the principles behind growing grapes to make fine wine; when you know that your tea leaves all came from one place, then you can ensure your tea is not a mix of high and low quality leaves together. It's high quality, all the way through, and not a mix of different sources. All of Great Lakes Tea and Spice Co. leaves have been ranked premium or superior quality across the world.
At Sacred Grounds we strive to make each cup special and we know how a great cup of tea or coffee can literally turn your day around. That's why we're dedicated to tea conoissurship.
Did you know that all our teas are loose leaf and many of them are also organic? We bag each tea individually in our coffeeshop to make sure that you get the right amount of spices to make your cup just what it should be.
Did you know that we have two separate hot water dispensers for different types of tea because they brew at separate temperatures which each tea reacts to differently? We've precisely matched each tea to its correct water temperature and when you get a tea from us the barista will tell you a suggested steep time calculated to ensure your tea is enjoyed at the peak of its steep: strong enough to enjoy the flavor, but before it sits too long and risks becoming bitter.
We also have some great news for you tea lovers: at Sacred Grounds we now sell bags and tins of Great Lakes Tea and Spice Co. tea so that you can steep the goodness in the comfort of your own home. We currently stock bags of the Roasted Almond Delight, Earl Grey Lavender, and tins of the Green Rooibos Sunsplash.
